Punjab Youth Congress leaders launch membership drive

Chandigarh : Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) on Monday launched its membership drive for the third round of organisational elections.

PYC president Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, along with AICC secretary Harish Chaudhary, Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa, and All India Youth Congress secretary Anant Dhaiya released the membership forms from Punjab Congress Bhawan, here.

The membership drive would be open for two months till January 21, 2015, said Chaudhary, while stating that it was part of the democratic process of constituting office-bearers in the Youth Congress was started by AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi in 2008 from Punjab, which had successfully covered the entire country and the third round process had started from Punjab.

He said through this process, a large number of youngsters get the opportunity to participate in active politics throughout the country and helped creating youth leadership.

Giving due representation to the Scheduled Castes, two of the total 13 Lok Sabha constituencies were reserved for SCs through draw. Ludhiana and Faridkot will be reserved for SCs for the third round.

The new process of election will be completed by April 30, 2015. A mobile application was also created to promote membership.

The PYC president and Dahiya, along with other office-bearers will tour the entire state to boost the membership drive.

“A list of performing office-bearers from the present committee will be released later, who will be eligible to contest the elections for the next state committee,” PYC chief added.
