MGNREGA workers await dues

Fatehgarh Sahib : About 51,000 persons who have worked under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme of the Central Government have not got their dues for the past couple of months.
Although the state government has released Rs 3.4 crore out of Rs 8.51 crore due since August this year, the balance payment of Rs 5.11 crore has been delayed as the Centre has failed to release funds to the state.
Under the scheme, payments are to be made to the workers in 15 days or else a fine is to be paid for the late payment of wages.
