SAD, BJP councillors in verbal duel

Amritsar : SAD councillors today boycotted a meeting of the Municipal Corporation following a verbal duel with councillors of the BJP.
The corporation is headed by Mayor Bakshi Ram Arora of the BJP. Senior Deputy Mayor Avtar Singh Truckkanwala and Deputy Mayor Avinash Jolly belong to the SAD. The Akali councillors are reportedly not satisfied with the working of the Mayor.
Arguments started between the leaders of both the parties when Truckkanwala and Jolly declined to endorse the agenda of the meeting terming it a “bundle of lies”. The SAD councillors allegedly tossed the copies of the agenda and walked out of the House.
Ignoring the SAD’s move, Mayor Arora carried on with the proceedings and announced to pass the agenda items with 22 BJP and Independent councilors.
