Abohar : Teachers recruited under the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) today staged a protest here against the state government.
They alleged the government was delaying implementation of the decisions taken at a meeting they had organised with the state Education Minister on January 29 last year.
They assembled at Nehru Park and marched to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk. They burnt an effigy of the state government and raised slogans.
Surinder Kumar, tehsil unit president of the SSA and RMSA, said their services had not been regularised even as they had completed three years of work. Disparities in the service rules of the state government and the abhiyan teachers should be removed, the protesters demanded.
They said they would submit a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner and the district education officer at Fazilka on January 23 to demand maternity leave of six months for female teachers on a par with the regular government teachers.
