SAD sarpanch among 3 booked on rape charges

BATHINDA: An Akali sarpanch, with two others, has been booked for allegedly raping a woman of their own village by giving her some intoxicant in a glass of juice as they used to meet her for extending help in resolving her differences with her in-laws.
On a complaint of the woman of Badiala village, the police have booked the sarpanch of Badiala village Jagdev Singh and his two accomplices Jaswinder Singh and Jagga Singh. SHO Rampura Sadar, Manjeet Singh, said that the medical test of the women has confirmed rape. A case under Section 376 IPC has been registered. “The woman was married to Harjinder Singh of the village about eight months ago, but both had developed some differences She had asked the sarpanch to help her to meet the SSP with her complaint,” said the SHO.
