Bathinda : A day after Talwandi Sabo Police arrested the Zila Parishad member Sukhmander Singh, the cops on Saturday also came up with a claim of nabbing an Akali Sarpanch’s son who along with 10 others was booked for attempting to kill the officials in flying squad of Powercom at Bhagi Vandar village on May 23. Since the registration of the case, police were conducting raids to nab all booked but none of them was coming in the Police grip. Finally, the Police acting upon a tip off arrested ZP member Sukhmander Singh on Friday morning and later the cops succeeded in arresting Bhagi Vandar village’s female Sarpanch’s son Raju Singh.
Raju Singh, who used to behave as the de facto Sarpanch of the village, was booked in two other cases of assaulting people and in one case he was facing the charges under section 307 of the IPC but in the past Police could not arrest him due his political clout.
In the recent case, the Powercom squad divided into two teams had reached the village to conduct a raid on the complaint of power theft cases. Launching its operation, the squad members first raided the house of Zila Parishad member Sukhmander Singh’s brother Ajit Singh and caught him stealing the power red-handed.
