Congress protests against house tax

CHANDIGARH: Congress workers staged a protest against the imposition of house tax at Sector 17 roundabout near bus stand on Wednesday.

Holding BJP responsible for the house tax, the protesters lashed out at saffron party’s MP Kirron Kher and others for ‘burdening’ the people.
Addressing a protest rally, which was attended by hundreds of Congress workers and several resident welfare association (RWA) members, former Union minister Pawan Bansal, Chandigarh Congress president Pardeep Chhabra and other senior leaders flayed the saffron leadership for “imposing the additional tax.”
The protesters wore black badges and held placards while raising slogans against the BJP.
Chhabra said instead of ‘Acche Din’, ‘Kale Din’ for Chandigarh residents have arrived. “Earlier, they increased tax on diesel and now imposed house tax. Why the MP and other leaders are silent on this issue,” questioned Chhabra.
