Patiala : Aam Aadmi Party MP from Patiala Dr Dharamvira Gandhi and state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur were seen sharing dias during a protest organised by the Bharti Kisan Union (Dakaunda) against the eviction of farmers at Haraiu Khurd village.
Dr Gandhi and Chhotepur have been at loggerheads over the issue of party’s organisational structure and other internal affairs.
Though the leaders were not spotted sharing any pleasantries, the development still assumes significance since both leaders were highly critical of each other in the past. For once, the party’s district unit stood united at the dharna site and pledged their support to the farmers.
Dr Gandhi, who staged a symbolic dharna in Parliament on Wednesday over the issue, alleged the incident had exposed Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal who claimed to be a farmer’s son and a well-wisher of the community.
He alleged: “He has been befooling people for the past 40 years in the name of Panth and farmers’ welfare. Now, he didn’t even hesitate before evicting the poor farmers who had been tilling the land for past 65 years.”
