The activists, led by secretary, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, Iqbal Singh Dhillon, and district Congress president Mohan Lal Jhumba also submitted a memorandum to the administration demanding that the construction on the encroached land should be stopped.
Dhillon said that the land, as per records of the MC, is government land but some politically influential people were capturing the land and had started construction at the site. He said if the authorities concerned didn’t act against the encroachers by registering a case against them and stopping the construction, the Congress would intensify the agitation. Mayor, MC, Balwant Rai Nath, didn’t pick his phone despite attempts.
