Anganwaris selling kids’ food: CPS Sidhu

Amritsar : After an inspection of various anganwari centres in the city, BJP MLA and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Health Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu said that the diet meant for children was being sold to shops.

She had inspected various centres in ward number 18 and 22 in the city.

Dr Sidhu also said that she had also spotted expired medicines at a few of these centres. She said that she has seized the records of these centres and would bring the matter into the notice of Health Minister Surjit Kumar Jyani.

She said that few of these centres were locked till 10 am even while their opening time is 8 am.

“At most of these centres, only 4-5 children were found present. A centre requires a minimum strength of 25 children,” she said, adding that the government should get all the centres in the state checked for irregularities.
