Two SAD workers accused of attack on Joshi’s brother in Tarn Taran get bail from high court

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday g ranted anticipatory bail to two Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) workers who were allegedly involved in attack on Raja Joshi, brother of Punjab local bodies minister Anil Joshi, in Tarn Taran in February.

The bail order was passed by the single-judge bench of justice MMS Bedi after the state told the high court that police were yet to file a chargesheet in the case. The detailed order is awaited. Those who have been given anticipatory bail are Sarabjit Singh and Yadvinder Singh, both local Akali leaders.

Raja Joshi was reportedly attacked at the sub-divisional magistrate’s office in Tar n Taran on February 10.

The attack was allegedly triggered by a spat over delimitation. No injury to Raja Joshi was reported, but it was alleged that Shiromani Akali Dal workers had fired several rounds at that time.
