LUDHIANA: The Congress organised a road show against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state chief Kamal Sharma in ward number 29 of the city on Monday.

Congress workers and supporters during a protest against BJP president Kamal Sharma near Arya College in Ludhiana on Monday.

The Congress alleged that despite the fact that confidants of Kamal Sharma were arrested by the police in several corruption and other cases, the latter “was shamelessly occupying his position in the lust of power”.

Former councillor of the Congress and party leader Raju Thapar lead the road show, stating that the leader must show some courage and dignity and resign from the post of the BJP state president.

State secretary of the party Chirag Thapar was also present during the show and said the BJP has become a party of power hungry people, not only in Punjab, but in the entire country.

“While Prime Minister Narendra Modi claims that he will not allow anyone to take bribe, the BJP state president in Punjab is involved in such activities and enjoying power,” said Thapar. The road show started from New Deep Nagar Chowk and ended at Shiv Mandir Chowk, Bindraban Road, where an effigy of Kamal Sharma was also put on fire.
