Chandigarh : The state Vigilance Bureau has got more evidence about the alleged involvement of Manjit Singh Bittu an Akali sarpanch, and Sham Lal Daddi, an Akali Councillor from Malout, in the recruitment scam with the arrest of three more candidates.
Sources said the accused had said that the duo were a conduit between them and those who had leaked the PUNSUP paper.
However, sources in the Akali Dal claimed that the duo were not on their rolls.
PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh had staged a dharna last week alleging that the vigilance was not taking action against certain Akali leaders.
The VB has arrested 25 persons so far. Among those eluding arrest was an Akali Councillor from Malout and an alleged Lucknow- based kingpin of the recruitment racket.
Sources said Bittu and his nephew, Shagan Mann, were already booked in a FIR related to the leaking of the recruitment exam for various posts in the Punjab State Civil Supplied Department (PUNSUP). They are still at large.
Sources said three candidates arrested today were Gaurav Jaidka, Gurmej Goldy and Dilbagh Singh, all residents of Moga. They have told the officers that Bittu along with another conduit, Suresh Yadav of Haryana, had taken over Rs 10 lakh for giving the question papers to them.
Vigilance sources said the three candidates then took money from other candidates to reveal some questions of the exam.
Sources said Bittu had acted as a conduit for 10 candidates. The middlemen arrested earlier were Dinesh Yadav, Pritpal and Pradeep from Haryana.
