Recruitment scam - SAD councillor Sham Lal Gupta arrested

Chandigarh : The Vigilance Bureau arrested SAD councillor from Malout Sham Lal Gupta (Daddi), for his alleged involvement in the recruitment scam, on Monday.
The bureau’s Assistant Inspector General, Surjit Singh while confirming the arrest said that Gupta had been arrested and would be produced in the local court on Tuesday. “With this arrest, the total number of arrests in the recruitment scam reaches 26,” Surjit said.
Talking to Daily Post on the phone, AIG vigilance said that, “We have arrested the key man behind this scam and looking forward to get as much information as we can. Our investigation is on and we are hopeful of getting more information very soon.”
Gupta is said to be close to Dayal Singh Koleyanwali, who is a close confidant of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and Chairman of Punjab Agro Foodgrains Corporation. The PPCC chief, Amarinder Singh, had alleged that Koleyanwali was the main accuse in this scam and the Congress had also protested in this connection at Lambi a few days ago.
It is expected that Koleyanwali’s alleged involvement in the scam may soon get unveiled since the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party have been alleging that he was the man behind the scam.
Apart from Gupta, a sarpanch of village Kothe Chet Singhwala in Bathinda district, who also owes allegiance to the ruling party, was also named in the recruitment scam. Manjeet Singh Bittu, sarpanch, and his relative Shagandeep Singh Mann are others wanted in
the case.The state vigilance bureau had obtained arrest warrants of both Bittu and Mann on Friday.
So far, 26 people, including those who got jobs for money in the local self government department, Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation (PUNSUP) and Punjab Urban Planning Development Authority (PUDA), have been arrested.
