The march passed through markets and ended at Fire Brigade chowk. The protesters burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel.
The march was attended by Congress MLA Ajaib Singh Bhatti, former MLAs, Harminder Singh Jassi and Gurpreet Singh Kangar, and other Congress leaders.
The leaders in their address alleged that atrocities on Dalits had been on a rise since the BJP-led government had been formed at the Centre.
They said communalism was being spread across the country and Punjab was also witnessing such developments.
