Patiala : The Congress on Thursday organized a demonstration against the police at Samana and demanded withdrawal of false cases against party leaders and workers. The party also threatened to launch an agitation in case the police failed to mend its ways. The demonstration was organized in front of the Samana city police station and was led by District Congress Committee (Rural ) president Hardyal Singh Kamboj.

Addressing party leaders and workers, Hardyal Singh Kamboj alleged that on the instructions of Samana MLA the city police has fabricated a forgery case against jathedar Kuldeep Singh Nassupur and his close associate Labh Singh Sidhu as both of them had left the Shiromani Akali Dal and joined the Congress recently. He said that taking it as his defeat the MLA had allegedly tried to use police force, which fabricated a case against Nassupur. Kamboj alleged that it was an attempt to get Nassupur back in the Shiromani Akali Dal.

Kamboj also asked the police to immediately withdraw the case or else the Congress would resort to an agitation over the issue. A contender for party ticket from Samana, Harinder Singh Harriman said that the party would take every account of the misdeed when it came to power.

Incharge of the Samana City police station, Inspector Gurpartap Singh, said that in the investigation the police had failed to get proof against Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Nassupur but it had enough evidence against Labh Singh Sidhu, so he had been made prime accused in the case.

Nassupur joins police investigation

Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Nassupur soon after the protest went inside the police station, along with Congress senior leaders. He said that he had got anticipatory bail from the district and sessions courts in this case and on the orders of the court had come to join the investigation. He claimed that he had nothing to do with the case as the police was trying to implicate him in this case for reasons best known to it.

Nothing to do with case: Rakhra

Samana MLA and Punjab Cabinet Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra made it clear that he had nothing to do with the case against Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Nassupur and its the police who had started investigation on a complaint.
