Gidderbaha : A SAD leader, wanted in a criminal case, not only attended the state government’s Independence Day function here on Monday, but also took the salute.
Madhodas Singh, councillor from Gidderbaha who is also president of the SAD’s BC wing in Muktsar, is wanted for allegedly thrashing a Youth Congress activist from Patiala inside the Gidderbaha police station four months ago .
Madhodas stood next to SDM Anand Sagar Sharma and SHO Kuldeep Chand Sharma and took the salute. The celebrations lasted almost five hours, but nobody dared to nab him. He even welcomed the SDM by offering him a garland.
The SHO admitted that Madhodas Singh had not yet got bail in the case. “The case was registered before my posting here. I was unable to identify him,” he said, adding that both accused and the victim were trying to reach a compromise.
On April 19, a Youth Congress activist from Patiala, along with his advocate and a friend, was allegedly thrashed by his in-laws and some SAD leaders inside Gidderbaha police station.
