Jalandhar : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader HS Phoolka said here today that AAP, if voted to power, would impound all buses plying illegally and bring their owners to book.
Phoolka was here to take part in a dharna organised by the family of Vinod Kumar Sahni, who died in yesterday’s Orbit bus mishap.
He said, “The state machinery is being used to serve the interests of the Badals. Their buses jump the lights and are notorious for speeding.”
He added that the party seconded the family’s demands regarding compensation of Rs 25 lakh and a job.
Meanwhile, AAP workers led by HS Phoolka, along with District Congress Committee president Rajinder Berry, blocked the Workshop Chowk for two hours along with Sahni’s family.
The blockade was lifted when Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, SDM, Jalandhar-2, promised that the compensation case would be taken up with the government in two days.
Congress seeks dope test of drivers
Moga: The Congress has sought a dope test of all drivers of private buses in the state. Ravi Grewal, PPCC secretary, claimed that most of the drivers hired by politicians to run their buses were drug addicts. “The erring drivers should not be allowed to play with the lives of the people,” he added
