Around 50 SAD leaders of Bassi Pathana resign

Fatehgarh Sahib : To lodge protest against the appointment of Chairman of Market Committee, Bassi Pathana; around 50 leaders of Bassi Pathana area of Shiromani Akali Dal on Wednesday resigned from their posts and threatened to boycott the two-day proposed Sangat Darshan programme of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to be held on December 12.
Sources said most of SAD leaders who resigned from their respective posts are close to Bassi Pathana MLA (retd) Justice Nirmal Singh, who is now shifted to Chamkaur Sahib assembly segment to contest upcoming Punjab assembly election from there.
A meeting of annoyed SAD leaders was held late on Wednesday evening in a hotel in which Lakhbir Singh Thabla, former Chairman of Market Committee, Bassi Pathana; Bhupinder Singh Hans, Chairman Block Samiti, Bassi Pathana; Parwinder Singh Salh, president Municipal Council, Bassi Pathana; Amit Jhanji,SAD Urban president Bassi Pathana, Rupi Virk, vice president Youth Akali Dal Malwa Zone 2, Pardeep Singh Kalour, Randeep Singh Rani, Ashok Tulani, Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Amanpal Singh, Gursharan Singh Bajwa, Parminder Singh Somal also participated.
Later, they announced that they had resigned from their posts against appointment of chairman of Market Committee, Bassi Pathana and they will work with dedication for the party and ensure SAD candidate Darbara Singh Guru’s victory in upcoming assembly election if the decision will be reconsidered. They will also boycott SAD rallies and proposed Sangat Darshan of the CM in the constituency. They alleged that a person who has a Congress background was appointed chairman while dedicated Shiromani Akali Dal workers were ignored.
