Kila Raipur Sports festival also feels the heat of Punjab polls-2017

Ludhiana : The 71st Kila Raipur Sports Festival, which is better known as the Rural Olympics worldwide always used to take place in the first weekend of February at the Kila Raipur village since number of decades. This village is around 15kms away from city.
But due to Punjab Polls 2017, Kila Raipur Sports festival dates have been declared for third week of February that is February 17 -19 after declaration of results. Earlier, during elections, Kila Raipur Sports festival used to become a political ground for different political parties for their free political campaigns to the masses in large number as a lot of crowd becomes a part of this well renowned sports festival including the foreigners. But this time, the politicians would miss out on this political ground for doing their free campaigning as organisers decided to carry it after elections only.
In fact, other than elections also, the political leaders of different political parties visit the Rural Olympics. They narrate the works done by them on the stage of the Kila Raipur Sports festival besides praising these historic games in the history of Punjab and announcing funds for them. Even foreigners come to cover these games in the Kila Raipur and to avoid any problem in elections they shifted the dates.
Jagbir Singh Grewal, Core Committee member of Kila Raipur Sports festival confirmed that they have shifted the dates of the sports festivals due to elections only in order to avoid any kind of problem and inconvenience to anybody.
As people come from different parts of the country and world to cover and as well as watch to these games. He further informed, “The political leaders of all parties also visit our sports festival since its foundation 71 years ago. The political leaders of various political parties is also a mark of tradition of these games. So, keeping in mind all these things we have shifted games after the elections.”
It is worth mentioning that this edition is full of excitement as they are ready to back with most prominent and famous event of the sports festival that is Bullock cart races. The large numbers of villagers were upset during last year because of the banned of bullock cart race.
