SAD leader Sokhi, accomplices booked for assault

Ludhiana : A day after the Junior Engineer (JE) of Municipal Corporation was allegedly assaulted by District Planning Board chief and councilor Jagbir Singh Sokhi, the Shimlapuri police have booked Sokhi and his accomplices under various sections of IPC.
The police have slapped case against Akali Dal leader Sokhi under section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 323, 395 (Hurting religious sentiments) and 34 of IPC.
JE Gagandeep Singh stated to Police that Sokhi has asked him to reach his office to get some official papers signed. When he reached there Sokhi, his gunman and accomplices assaulted him badly.
He also alleged that Sokhi forced him to sign on blank papers and also took him along at police station and leveled allegations on him that he has vandalised his Shimlapuri office.
Later, MC employees came in support of victim and the police was compelled to take action in this context.
