Abohar : A case has been registered at Khuyiansarwer police station against the sarpanch of Maujgarh village in the Abohar subdivision under sections 409, 420, 465, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act. Sarpanch Radhey Ram Jakhar is former SAD district vice-president.

Padam Shri Dr Amrit Tewari, the mother of senior Congress leader and former Ludhiana MP Manish Tewari, passed away late last night in Chandigarh. She was 80. She was not keeping well for sometime. Manish Tewari is an Indian politician, who was Union Minister of State (Independent charge), Minister of Information and Broadcasting and a Member of Parliament from Ludhiana. He is a lawyer by qualification and has practised in the Supreme Court of India as well as the Delhi High Court.
