MUKTSAR: A day after Manpreet Singh, cousin of Congress candidate Shubhdeep Singh (ward number 23) and nephew of another party nominee Bakshish Singh (ward number 24), was allegedly assaulted by Akali activists, the Malout police have booked both candidates in an attempt to murder case at the Malout city police station. Another case against them has been registered for criminal conspiracy at the Kabbarwala police station.

BATHINDA: Two days after the murder of an Akali worker, district rural Congress has decided to boycott the elections in five municipal councils and nagar panchyats falling in the Rampura Phul block, including the native village of Captain Amarinder Singh, to protest the alleged bullying by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

Bathinda : In the aftermath of poll violence that took place outside the Phul sub-divisional administrative complex on Friday, in which a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) supporter was allegedly killed by a People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) leader and his accomplices, the Congress on Sunday announced to boycott the forthcoming elections of Rampura Municipal Council as well as all four Nagar Panchayats falling in Rampura Phul assembly segment.
