ED arrests ex-Akali leader Chahal

JALANDHAR: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday arrested Amritsar-based industrialist and former Akali leader Jagjeet Singh Chahal near SAS Nagar in the money laundering case registered against him in the multi-crore Bhola synthetic drug racket. He was out on bail in the case. Chahal was not appearing before the agency despite its having sent him show-cause notices in the last six months, officials said. A team of ED sleuths had laid a trap to arrest Chahal on Monday. He has been brought here. He would be produced in a Patiala court on Tuesday.

23,000 litres of ‘lahan’ seized in Lambi segment; 7 booked

Muktsar : Nearly 100 police personnel today raided illegal distilleries at Kattianwali village in the Lambi Assembly segment, and seized 23,000 litres of “lahan” (material used in preparing hooch) and 200 bottles of illicit liquor.
