Sunday, 07/08/2011

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today hailed the Punjab and Haryana High Court order quashing the appointment of Harish Rai Dhanda as the Chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission and the directions for the appointment of the PSC Chairmen and its members.

Welcoming the orders, Capt Amarinder observed that the High Court orders will lead to transparency in the appointment of the PSC Chairmen and its members. He observed, it is important that the appointment to such prestigious constitutional posts be made in a transparent and not in an arbitrary manner.

He added, since the Public Service Commissions are responsible for making important appointments to civil and other gazetted services, including the lower judiciary in the state, it becomes more important that the appointments are done in a most transparent manner and the persons appointed are above board.
