Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh on Sunday criticised the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for demanding resignation of the Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur and for recommending the name of Harbhagwan Singh to the government of India.
Lashing out at Badal, Capt Amarinder said, the Chief Minister was trying to divert the attention of the public from his own role in the whole controversy.
He said,”that is why I have been insisting on a high level probe to find out the truth”.
He asserted that there was nothing wrong in Preneet Kaur recommending Harbhagwan’s name to the government.
“Recommending somebody’s name for a job with good intentions is absolutely legal and justified, while misleading the person with wrong information with malicious intent of getting political mileage out of it, as Badal seems to have done, is criminal”, he
remarked.
The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President reiterated his strong suspicion that it was Badal at whose behest a call was made to Harbhagwan Singh telling him about central government reportedly withdrawing the notification debarring Sahajdharis from voting in the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
He said, since it is Badal who was to be benefitted the most from the controversy it is quite possible that the counsel was misled at his behest.
