Alleging that the policy decisions taken by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal were motivated by vested interests, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Capt Amarinder Singh said the Congress, if voted to power in the 2012 assembly elections, would review all policy decisions taken by the SAD-BJP alliance.
Talking to mediapersons here on Thursday after addressing workers' meeting of Sangrur, Sunam and Dirba assembly segments, Amarinder accused the Badal family of misusing power to gain control over the transport business in the state.
He said the SAD-led government would be made accountable for every penny of loss caused to the exchequer and a thorough probe would be ordered by the Congress to bring them to book.
He rued losses to public undertakings in the state, including the PRTC and the Punjab Roadways, which he blamed on personal gains by the Badal family. He said the Badals had robbed the state by running 20 buses on a single permit.
He said the next government would also look into the misuse of funds by the chief minister through Sangat Darshan programmes, and Badal would be held accountable for the grants misused by him.
He said the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India had already objected to the expenditure and the court had ordered refund of the money allocated through sangat darshan.
He also questioned the purpose of putting Badal's picture on bicycles, ration cards and utensils being distributed through various welfare schemes. He pointed out that these welfare schemes were part of the 14 flagship programmes of the Congress-led UPA government.
Criticising Badal on clemency for Davinderpal Singh Bhullar, he questioned the purpose of bringing about a resolution in the assembly when the matter was sub judice in the Supreme Court.
He said Badal was looking for political mileage out of an issue that should be dealt with on humanitarian grounds.
Amarinder was accompanied by PPCC general secretary Arvind Khanna, local MP Vijay Inder Singla and coordinator Malkit Singh Birmi.
