Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today questioned the BJP leader Mr LK Advani’s moral authority to lead the anti corruption yatra and that too in Punjab where his party, the BJP in alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal has crossed all the limits of corruption and four BJP ministers were removed for corruption charges. He remarked, “it (Advani’s anti corruption yatra) is like quoting the scriptures and defending the devil”.

Addressing an impressive public rally as part of the Punjab Bachao Yatra here today, he pointed out, it was an irony that Mr Advani was leading a yatra into Punjab where four of his party’s ministers had been removed on corruption charges and the allegations had been levelled by the BJP leaders only.

Moreover, he told the BJP leader about the rampant loot of state resources by the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Deputy Chief Minister son Sukhbir Badal who have grabbed the sand mines, the liquor trade, the transport business and the cable operations. Not just that the Akali goons have also started extorting money from the rich, Capt Amarinder revealed.

Continuing his scathing attack on the Badals, the PCC President said, theirs was a gang of robbers and looters who had plundered not only Punjab but even the Guru’s Golak. He said, “a day will come when they will have to account for their sins and that day was not any far”. “Don not be mistaken that the Congress government will not take any action against you for the rampant corruption you have indulged in”, he told the Badals while adding, “you will have to account for each and every penny of the state you looted and plundered”.

Referring to Mr Badals claims that the Congress rallies were not getting crowds, the PCC President asked the local MLA Balbir Sidhu to provide the specs for the vision correction so that they can see the crowds in the rallies and read about it in the newspapers.

Speaking on the occasion, the party incharge for Punjab Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak said, it was just a matter of three months more when it would be the Congress government in the state. “The overwhelming presence in the rallies was a clear indication about that”, he said. Mr Charak asserted that it was the Congress led UPA government which had taken strict measures against the corruption. He said, the party was also brining in strong Lokpal. He said, the Congress President Ms Sonia Gandhi had made it abundantly clear that there was zero tolerance to corruption.

The Minister of State for External Affairs Ms Perneet Kaur said that the final bugle for the decisive battle of ballots had already been blown and people had made up their mind to bring Congress back to power.

Lashing out at the Badals, the Congress Legislative Party leader Ms Rajinder Kaur Bhattal said, they should feel ashamed for what they have done to Punjab. She said, while in power Mr Badal swears by the constitution and when out of power he burns the same constitution. Senior leader and CWC member Jagmeet Singh Brar asked the Badals what they had done for Punjab. He pointed out, it was Mr Badal who had accepted the money for the construction of SYL from Haryana while Capt Amarinder Singh had saved the waters by bringing in a legislation. Punjab Youth Congress President and Anandpur Sahib MP Ravneet Bittu lashed out at Sukhbir Badal for levelling false allegations against Capt Amarinder.

Prominent among those present on the occasion include former PCC President Mohinder Singh Gill, Balbir Sidhu, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Rajinder Rana, Ms Lakhwinder Kaur Garcha, Deepinder Dhillon, Jagmohan Singh Kang and others.
