PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh today said his party would release its manifesto for the coming assembly elections in January after consultation with Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Amarinder said, "Our election manifesto is almost ready. We worked on it for about six months."

While responding to query related to the SAD, he said in a lighter vein: "We are not like the Akalis who prepare their poll manifesto overnight…. We will not make public our poll manifesto right now, otherwise the SAD may highjack it."

About the large number of aspirants for assembly ticket, Amarinder said over 2,000 party workers had applied for ticket. "The Congress party’s state screening committee will go through all these applications, following which the names of those selected will be forwarded to Congress president Sonia Gandhi for final approval."
