Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Saturday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to direct the Ministry of Railways to commence another daily train between Amritsar and Nanded to cope up with the heavy rush of pilgrims visiting Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Badal wrote that after Amritsar, Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib at Nanded, Maharashtra is the holiest Sikh shrine in the world but as at present, only one daily train, “Sachkhand Express” runs between Amritsar and Nanded, devotees from Punjab visiting this holiest shrine had to face a number of problems.
Badal further said, “During my recent visit to Nanded, a large number of delegates and prominent Sikhs had met me and expressed anguish at lack of proper train connectivity between Punjab and Nanded.” Therefore, CM requested PM to start another daily train between Amritsar and Nanded.
