Chandigarh : Punjab Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu stayed away from the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh here on Thursday.
It was the first meeting held after the recent Lok Sabha polls.
After the recent war of words between Sidhu and the Chief Minister, the absence of the Local Bodies Minister is being seen in political circles as a mark of protest by him.
Sources in the government said the cabinet meeting was crucial in view of impending re-allocation of portfolios of the ministers and at a later stage dropping of some ministers.
The Chief Minister has already said that he is contemplating to change Sidhu’s portfolio in light of the poor performance of the party in urban areas in the recently held polls.
Can't be taken for granted: Sidhu
As the cabinet meeting was in progress, Navjot Singh Sidhu held a press conference at his residence to list his achievements regarding the performance of the party in urban areas in the recently polls.
He said he could not be taken for granted as he had been a performer his whole life—“be it cricket, showbiz, motivational talks or politics”.
Sidhu did a detailed analysis of the party’s performance in rural and urban areas.
He claimed that he was being singled out for his “performance” in the recently held elections.
