Depletion of water table: Israel firm to help Punjab

CHANDIGARH : To tackle the problem of steep decline in groundwater table, the Punjab government has signed an agreement with Mekorot, Israel’s national water company, for formulation of a water conservation and management master plan for the state. Israel is the only nation in the world which recycles more than 80% of its waste water. The final report of the master plan is expected in October 2020.

As a part of the project, a three-member team of experts from Israel is on a field visit to Punjab from June 11 to 14.
