Preneet Kaur inaugurates Banur canal project

ZIRAKPUR: Patiala MP Preneet Kaur inaugurated Banur canal system project on the banks of Ghaggar river near Chhat Beer village on Monday.
The project will provide irrigation facilities to 40 villages of the Rajpura, Mohali and Dera Bassi subdivisions (50,000 acres).
She said with the initiation of this canal project, the long pending demand of the people of Rajpura constituency has been met. “Strict adherence to the agreement between farmers and the government will take place due to which adequate water will be released to the farmers of all villages,” she said. She informed that presently, 50 cusecs of water has been released into the canal, adding that it will help farmers during the paddy season. Ghanaur MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur who was also present, said farmers of Patiala constituency will get adequate water as per the agreement. Preneet also launched a plantation drive to mark the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak by planting a sapling.
