CHANDIGARH : Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, on Tuesday, directed the state advocate general (AG), Atul Nanda, to oppose the July 4 CBI closure report in the incident of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in Bargari in 2015. The directions have been issued after the AG had cleared the legal position.
“Despite the Akalis’ efforts to obstruct justice, my government would take the case to its logical end and ensure justice for victims,” Amarinder declared in the assembly, blaming the previous government. He was responding to the issue that SAD MLA Parminder Singh Dhindsa and AAP’s Aman Arora had raised in the zero hour of the concluding day of the monsoon session. The MLAs had questioned conflicting statements that the government had made and submitted a privilege motion on the matter. They maintained that the Supreme Court monitored investigation be ordered.
