WASHINGTON: Two US lawmakers and Sikh community bodies have expressed disappointment over the international basketball federation’s (Fiba) decision to allow athletes to wear religious headgear, such as patkas, only as part of a “trial period”.

New York : In a significant legal victory for the daughter of an Indian diplomat, the City of New York has agreed to pay her $2,25,000 to settle a lawsuit she brought against it after she was jailed for a day and suspended from her school on suspicion of sending obscene emails to her teacher.

Indian Embassy officials in Doha (Qatar) reportedly sent the body of another man to the family of 24-year-old Harjeet Singh today. Harjeet was killed in Doha recently. The victim’s kin found that the body was not of Harpreet, when they opened the coffin to cremate him at his native place Mohalla Sagran. The shocked family members then met Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner KK Yadav.
