Chandigarh : With educational institutions across the state struggling for funds, there will be no free pilgrimage. The ‘Mukh Mantri Tirath Darshan Yatra Scheme’ stands scrapped, Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal told the Punjab Vidhan Sabha today. He was replying to a query by Firozepur MLA Parminder Pinki during Question Hour.

Chandigarh : A day after the presentation of budget, the Opposition on Wednesday appeared united to corner the treasury benches in Punjab Vidhan Sabha. The main Opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the previous ruling alliance Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party, both accused the ruling Congress and Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal of playing with the sentiments of poor debt-ridden farmers with also terming the Budget a mere farce.

Chandigarh : “No cooked up figures, no fudged data. I have been honest to the core while presenting the Budget,” Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal told The Tribune in an interview today. He challenged the Akalis to influence the Modi-led NDA government at the Centre into waiving loans of Rs 10 lakh or more if they truly cared for the farmers.
