TARN TARAN/FEROZEPUR : Tourism minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday said there is a plan to release nearly 100 Indus river dolphins into the Harike Wetland, which will be brought from Pakistan in exchange of ghariyals. He was addressing a function organised to commemorate the World Wetlands Day at Harike wetland.

CHANDIGARH : Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, on Thursday, warned officials of the excise and taxation department of strict action against sending undue tax assessment notices to industry. The CM has asked the excise and taxation commissioner to ensure that the department does not issue such notices.

Chandigarh : Age-long bonds between the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal are under strain. Primarily because the BJP government at the Centre has failed to ameliorate the plight of farmers that has been a core support bank of the SAD. It was reflected glaringly in the manner farming community voted against the BJP in the Hindi heartland, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh, where the BJP lost power to the Congress. The BJP-Akali alliance was forged way back in 1969 when Parkash Singh Badal became chief minister for the first time.
