For the first time in Punjab, persons, who are not able to cast their votes because they are posted at faraway places, will be able to do so, courtesy proxy voting.
Announcing this at a news conference at Punjab Agriculture University here today, Chief Election Commissioner of India (CEC) Dr Shahabuddin Yaqoob Quraishi said, “It has already been introduced successfully in six states. As a result, the polling percentage has considerably improved.”

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today questioned the BJP leader Mr LK Advani’s moral authority to lead the anti corruption yatra and that too in Punjab where his party, the BJP in alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal has crossed all the limits of corruption and four BJP ministers were removed for corruption charges. He remarked, “it (Advani’s anti corruption yatra) is like quoting the scriptures and defending the devil”.
