Prominent NRI entrepreneur Ravi Pillai has been selected for 'The Business Man of the year Award 2011' by the Kerala State Forum of Bankers' Clubs.

The Award will be presented to him at a function to be held here during the second week of December, forum President L R R Warrier told reporters here today.

Pillai was chosen for the award for his "excellent track record" in business and contribution to Kerala society and philanthropic activities, its General Secretary K U Balakrishnan said.

Pillai, who is the founder and Managing Director of one of the largest industrial construction companies in the Middle East, is the largest overseas Indian employer with 44,000 Indian expatriates. He is also Chairman/ Managing Director of 22 business entities.

A three-member Jury headed by former judge of the supreme court Justice V R Krishna Iyer and represented by prominent bankers will take a final decision in this regard.

Among the categories being considered for the Excellence Award are Best Bank in Public Sector, Best Bank in Private Sector, Best Bank in New Generation Sector and Best Branch in Public Sector, they said.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
