Cherie Blair, wife of former British prime minister Tony Blair, who was here yesterday to inaugurate the Loomba Foundation’s annual charity dinner, says coming to India makes her feel like a non-resident Indian. “It’s always so wonderful to come to India. I always feel like an NRI. Every time I come here, I feel like I’m home,” Blair said while addressing the media.
Blair is the president of the Loomba Foundation. Though her flight was delayed, she looked extremely fresh and elegant in a black-coloured, velvet, embroidered sherwani-style kurta.
She even handed over mementos and certificates to a few businessmen who came forward to support the foundation’s prime cause of educating children of poor widows in India.
Also present at the event were the foundation’s chairman trustee, Raj Loomba, and its international goodwill ambassador, Bollywood actress Kajol. Her actor husband Ajay Devgn was also due to attend the event, but he got caught up shooting in Patiala for a film project.
