Punjab police have gone hi-tech in an effort to resolve the problems faced by Punjab NRIs. This system will enable these NRIs to have video chat with Punjab police on Gmail online during daytime (Indian Standard Time). They can easily access the police and get information about their complaints pending with the department.
“The website of the Punjab police has the facility of receiving complaints online and it shall be the endeavour of this office to ensure that the grievances of NRIs are received and processed efficiently,” said Punjab Inspector General of Police (NRI affairs) Gurpreet Kaur.
“We have brought the NRIs face to face with the cops to facilitate them getting information as well as status of their complaints, lodged with the NRI wing either online or individually”, she added.
According to details of the scheme, the NRIs can have online video chat with the wing on Gmail

About 300 complaints of NRIs are pending with the police department across the state, with 25 complaints being from Ludhiana district along. Most of the complaints are filed by the residents of Canada while Americans are on the second number. NRIs from Spain, United Kingdom, Australia, Dubai, Italy, Germany and Africa have filed their complaints with the NRI wing of the state police.
Some other complaints have been received from the residents of the country as the matter is concerned with other countries. These complaints have been forwarded to the officers in the districts concerned.
