Walia appointed officiating V-C of Sikh World University

Fatehgarh Sahib: Noted educationist and Director Education of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Gurmohan Singh Walia has been appointed as the officiating Vice Chancellor of the Shri Guru Garanth Sahib World University. In place of him, Khalsa College (Patiala) principal Dharminder Singh Ubha has been given the additional charge of directorate of education.

Talking to Daily Post here on Monday, SGPC president and Chancellor of the University Jathedar Avtar Singh said that keeping in view his contributions in the field of education Walia had been given this responsibility. He said that on this juncture of time, he could not be given regular responsibility so he would look into the affairs of the university till further orders.

Walia, while talking to Daily Post said that his first priority was to make the university as one of the top universities in the country. Thanking Jathedar Avtar Singh, he said that it was a big challenge before him and he would leave no stone unturned to bring the rail back on the track.

Replying a question about the clearance of the University from UGC, he said that it is his one of the top most priority and hopefully within a couple of weeks, the case would be finalised.
