LUDHIANA: The circuit house witnessed a huge rush of people thronging the venue to pursue their complaints against nonresident Indians (NRIs) with inspector general of police, NRI affairs, Gurpreet Kaur Deo who visited Ludhiana to hear their grievances.
Most people visited the circuit house to complain against NRI brides or grooms, who duped them on the pretext of settling them abroad.
The inspector general of police said the state as well as the police department was very concerned over NRIrelated cases.
She was addressing a press conference at circuit house after listening to the complaints on Friday.
She said maximum complaints, 22, were received from Moga followed by Ludhiana with 16 complaints. Twelve complaints came up at Jagraon and four at Khanna. She also mentioned that the NRI wing had resolved 80% cases that were received this year, adding that rest of the cases would be disposed of soon on priority.
The NRI affair wing has been working hard to provide justice to the complainants. She also called upon the officers to refer the matters to the departments concerned the earliest.
