AMRITSAR: Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh has accused Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil of committing sacrilege and hurting the sentiments of Sikh community.

It may be recalled that Patil had gifted four volumes of English translation of Guru Granth Sahib to Canadian PM, Stephen Harper while the latter visited him at Chandigarh on October 7. Both Patil and Harper had their heads uncovered while he was gifted the Granth Sahib translation.

Giani Gurbachan Singh said no doubt the Canadian PM accepted the gift in a very gracious and respectful manner, it was the duty of the Indian counterparts to aware him of Sikh Maryada.
