PATIALA: Kuldeep Kaur Bedi, a magistrate in London, would be holding an open camp for helping the marginalised and downtrodden people with their eye ailments under the aegis of PC Pirthi Bedi Foundation which she founded along with her husband and named after their son who departed eight years ago.

Kaur’s son was a police officer and a philanthropist at heart who helped the needy and the poor. “I just wanted to carry this noble cause in India in memory of my son”, she said, fighting back her tears. Co- chairperson of the foundation, Kuldeep has been working tirelessly in the malwa region, along with chief patron Jamie Murray.

The charity helped nearly 3,000 people last year, providing not just surgical solutions to their sight problems but also corrective spectacles, said James Murray.

The foundation will organise the camp on December 7 in which a special team of doctors will check patients with the help of 12 students from Chatters House, the alma mater of Prince Charles.
