Kapurthala ; An NRI was booked for demanding dowry, misappropriation of dowry articles, cruelty, harassment and fraud on the complaint lodged by his wife. Complainant Parminderjit Kaur, daughter of Sawan Sing of Mayyopattiq, PS Rawalpindi alleged that accused Paramjit Singh Parmar son of Gurbhajan Singh of vadow village, tehsil Garshankar had cheated her by doing a fraud marriage , misappropriating the dowry articles, cruelty and harassment by physically and mentally torturing her. She stated that she was settled in Canada as citizen a few year ago with my brother and sisters there and the accused gained the sympathy of her mother to have arranged marriage with her only with the motive of settling abroad s.

She alleged after settling in Canada, he changed his attitude and started beating and abusing her and also started demanding more dowry. She alleged her mother-in-law and sisters-in law too abused her when she came to India two years back . Her application was marked to women helpline Phagwara which was investigated by Inspector Raj Kumar4 , In charge Suvidha Centre Phagwara and same was found correct by DSP Phagwara, Ashwani Kumar on November 10 and with the approval of SSP, Kapurthala, a case was registered against the accused under Sections 420/498 A/406 of IPC.
