NAWANSHAHR: Micheal D. Jong, Health Minister of British Columbia, Canada, today, visited the Health Centres at Aur and Karyam villages falling in the district, on his way to health awareness yatra. Addressing the gatherings, Jong made the people aware about the growing menace of diseases like diabetes, heart and kidney etc.

These diseases are on the rise in British Columbia and Punjab and have been playing havoc with the health of Punjabis. The mission of his health awareness yatra is to mobilise Punjabis to bring a change in their life style, diet etc. to prevent as well as manage the fatal diseases", said the Health Minister.

Dr.Gulzar Singh Cheema, accompanying him also delivered a detailed lecture underlying the need to create awareness among the masses to adopt the proper life style for preventing diseases. A bilingual brochure "Icon" was also distributed. He also exhorted the people to visit website: www.iconproject.org for getting tips to manage these diseases.

Bibi Satinder Kaur Kariha, SAD leader, Dr. H.N. Sharma, Assistant Civil Surgeon, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
