NRI adopts govt school

Faridkot : Pardeep Singh Minhas, a non-resident Indian (NRI) from USA, on Thursday adopted the Government Elementary School, Old Fort in Faridkot.

Minhas handed over a cheque worth Rs 15 lakh in this regard to Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat.

With the adoption of this school by the NRI, the district administration has now decided to change the name of school on the name of his father Inderjit Singh Minhas.

“The process to change the name of school has started. It all became possible due to the sincere efforts of the school’s staff,” the DC said.

He directed the officials concerned to spend the received amount wisely on the infrastructure of the school. He also presented a memento to Minhas for his philanthropist act.
