Fatehgarh Sahib : What’s different in India and the US? Driving here is a little bit crazy! There’s a lot more honking in India, but it makes getting from one place to another a very exciting adventure.
Exciting is what the whole Indian experience has been for Lindsay Houts, a journalist from the United States who is visiting Punjab as a member of the Group Study Exchange team of the Rotary Club from Oklahoma. “We feel completely welcome and at home here, and we simply cannot express our gratitude enough,” she says. Joe Hudson, another member of the team who works for an NGO, Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, says the food in Punjab is spicier, “but we have loved trying all the new dishes”.
Team leader Megan Elliott, who is into real estate management, says it is the first visit to India for all of them. “Each of us had different expectations from the trip. We knew we would encounter kind people, beautiful religions, vibrant colours, spicy food, and scenic vistas. In just six days, I can say that it is has all rung true.” Sarah Dugger, from the cosmetic sales sector, says she would always carry the memories of India and the Punjabis with her.
