CID takes NRI killer to Delhi court

HYDERABAD : The most-wanted fugitive criminal, Nerusu Lakshminivas Rao, who killed his wife and two children in the USA, will be produced in the additional chief metropolitan magistrate’s court (extradition) at Patiala House in New Delhi on Saturday.

Crime investigation department inspector MB Sridhar shifted the accused to New Delhi to produce him in the court for the process of extradition to the USA where he will be prosecuted for triple murder at Novi in Michigan in the USA on Oct 13, 2008.

On February 20, the CID arrested Rao, a native to Gandigunta in Vuyyuru mandal in Krishna district, against whom an arrest warrant had been pending for four years issued by the Oakland district court in the Michigan state of USA.

Additional director-general of police (CID) T Krishna Prasad said the accused had brutally murdered his wife Nerusu Jayalakshmi (37), son Siva (12) and daughter Tejasvi (14) at his house in the USA. After committing the crime, he fled the USA. The US police and FBI alerted the Interpol and issued a Red Corner Notice (RCN) against Rao. The state CID was also alerted.

On Feb 21, CID sleuths arrested the fugitive who was remanded in judicial custody by the VI additional chief metropolitan magistrate’s court, Nampally and was lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison here.

After perusal of the documents forwarded by CID on Mar 26, the Court No. 01, Patiala House, New Delhi, issued production warrant against the fugitive with directions to produce Nerusu Rao in the ACMM Court.
